The release of young ayu (sweetfish) has begun in the Kamikatsura River!

In the clear waters of the Kamikatsura River, the release of young ayu (small ayu, about 4 or 5 centimeters long) has begun at various locations along the approximately 30-kilometer-long river basin by members of the fishing cooperative.

The release of young ayu (sweetfish) begins on April 20th, and by the opening day of the fishing season, they will be released at approximately 30 locations along the river basin.
This year's release volume is 3,000 kg, and further releases are planned in several stages.

Fly fishing season opens: June 20th (Sunday), 5:00 AM

Annual fishing permits for the Kamikatsura River are sold at fishing tackle shops in Kyoto City. Daily permits will go on sale from July 4th (Saturday).
Whether you're someone who enjoys fishing for ayu (sweetfish) or someone looking forward to eating them, please wait a little longer.
