At Kasuga Shrine (Kyoto Kita-Miyamachi, Ukyo-ku), famous for the Kuroda Centennial Cherry Tree, the Nagoshi no Harae (summer purification) ritual will be held from 10:00 on Sunday, June 21st, and afterwards, anyone can pass through the Chino-wa (reed ring) until Saturday, July 4th.

Passing through the straw circle is an event in which people give thanks for safety until June, pray for good health through the upcoming hot summer, and pray for safety in the remaining six months.

Passing through a straw ring is rare in Keihoku. Kasuga Shrine is famous for its late-blooming Kuroda Hyakunen Sakura, but why not visit the quiet Kasuga Shrine in the fresh greenery that is a little different from the cherry blossom season?
