"Three kinds of famous cherry trees at Joshokoji Temple" and "Sakura at Sanmei-in Temple in Satoyama"
Josho-koji Temple has three famous cherry trees: Kokonoe Sakura, Sakon Sakura, and Mikurumagaeshi Sakura. As each tree blooms at a different time, you can enjoy the cherry blossoms for about two weeks from the first bloom to the last full bloom, making it a special place. After taking a short break at a restaurant with a nice view during the cherry blossom viewing, you can visit the cherry blossoms at Sanmyo-in Temple, which is located in a village in the Satoyama area. *The cherry blossom season in Keihoku is a little later than in urban Kyoto. In early years, the cherry blossoms start blooming around the end of March and continue until mid-April, and in late years, they start blooming in early April and can be seen until the end of the month. There are cherry blossoms in many places in Keihoku, but because it is located north of Kyoto city and has a higher altitude, the cherry blossoms bloom the latest in Kyoto city, allowing you to enjoy the cherry blossoms for a long time. Here, we will introduce a course to see the cherry blossoms along the clear Kamikatsura River. First, we will visit the Woody Keihoku Roadside Station, a famous roadside station where you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing. Next, we will visit the Suspension Bridge and Weeping Cherry Blossoms over the Kamikatsura River, then the Tochimoto Hyakuhonzakura, a row of cherry trees along the bank of the Kamikatsura River. On the way, we will take a break at the Karin Garden Cafe, a rose garden surrounded by forest along the Akashi River, a tributary of the river. Finally, we will visit Hosenji Temple at the foot of the Satoyama and enjoy the cherry blossoms. Hosenji Temple has many types of cherry blossoms, and they start to bloom later than other places in Keihoku. The head priest plants new trees almost every year, and the area is becoming more and more like a cherry blossom park with each passing year. Touring the Shuzan Castle Ruins built by Mitsuhide Akechi
The mountain behind ``Roadside Station Woody Keihoku'' is called Shiroyama, and there is the remains of Shuyama Castle, a huge stone wall built by Mitsuhide Akechi. Shuyama Castle was built around 075, and after Akechi Mitsuhide was defeated in the Battle of Yamazaki on June 852, 0348, it was abandoned (ruined) by order of Hideyoshi.
