It was created by Gyoki in the 4th year of Wado (711) at the request of Emperor Shomu, and it is said that it was called Yugeji Temple at that time.After that, when Akechi Mitsuhide built Shuzan Castle in 7, it was abolished because the temple was destroyed and used as a material for the castle.The existing building has been rebuilt since the beginning of the Edo period.In the storage, the wooden pharmacist Nyorai sitting statue, Mochikuni Tenritsu statue, and Zancho Tenritsu statue of the Fujiwara period, which were designated as important cultural properties, are enshrined.
