Joshokoji Temple

Joshokoji is a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect Tenryu-ji school. It is a temple related to the imperial family, which was founded in 1362 by Emperor Kogon, who became the first emperor of the Northern Court, after his priesthood.It is said that the emeritus, who sought peace of mind, chose the surrounding nature as a garden, named the mountain behind the temple as a monkey return, the waterfall as Shiratamasen, and the entire mountain as Manjurin, and chose the surrounding Tokachi. You can also enjoy most of this landscape.

There are more than 4 statues enshrined in the Buddhist temple, such as Mida, Kannon, and Mahasthamaprapta designated by the National Important Cultural Property.In the garden, there are famous trees such as the national natural monument "Kuju Sakura" and "Sakon Sakura" branched from the Imperial Palace, and it is in full bloom around mid-April.In autumn, you can see bright "autumn leaves" such as green, yellow, orange, and crimson.
